John Van Den Brom Extends Contract With AZ Alkmaar Until 2019

John Van Den Brom has been able to extend his contract with AZ Alkmaar until the middle of 2019. After having been in charge of AZ Alkmaar since 2014, Van Den Brom has repeatedly extended his desire to be in charge of the team for much longer. Even though Eredivisie has seen repeated dominance from the likes of PSV and Ajax, AZ Alkmaar has also been able to get some incredible success over the last few years.

Even in the current 2017-18 campaign, the club is battling with the likes of Ajax for a Champions League qualification spot. At the moment, the club is in the Europa League places with a significant advantage over Feyenoord. AZ Alkmaar would appreciate the continuity and stability provided by Van Den Brom, who is now entering into his fifth campaign with the club. During this period, he has been linked with moves to the Premier League and other top divisions.

However, he has resisted the lure to move away from the Dutch club. Prior to coming the Dutch outfit, Van Den Brom has worked with the likes of Vitesse Arnhem and Anderlecht. However, this is his longest managerial spell after having previously worked only in short spells. The 51-year-old extended his contract with AZ Alkmaar only last year.

“I’m happy with the trust I get from the club management. We can determine that we are on the right track, but we are convinced that it can be even better than we already show. I had the stamp that I leave quickly everywhere, but that is no longer the case. With my club choices I have always been guided by the sportive improvement and I am now doing that too,” said Van Den Brom. Technical director Max Huiberts expressed his delight at being able to agree an extension with the manager.
