PSV BEAT AZ

PSV Eindhoven kept their title hopes alive after a 3-2 win over AZ Alkmaar, who are also in the race alongside leaders Ajax. PSV Eindhoven were coming into the match after having been defeated 2-1 by RKC Waalwijk in the previous match. As a result, they were under a lot of stress to get the three points against AZ Alkmaar.

For long periods of the game, it looked like they will not get the three points despite the home support. However, a Tim Matavz goal very late in the match gave PSV Eindhoven the chance to stay in touch with the likes of AZ Alkmaar and Feyenoord at the top of the table.

Jeremain Lens opened the scoring for PSV Eindhoven in the 17th minute after an assist from Wijnaldum. However, Jose Altidore equalised for AZ Alkmaar before they took the lead through Beerens in the 34th minute. Both the goals came as a result of assists from Martens, but PSV Eindhoven a second-half comeback, which was irresistible.

They first secured the equaliser through Lens in the 77th minute after an assist from Depay. However, the big twist in the match came in the dying moments of the injury time, as Matavž produced an unstoppable shot with only seconds remaining on the clock.

Charlison Benschop was left ruing his miss in the 85th minute, as he missed a great opportunity to extend the lead for AZ with a freekick. AZ will be hoping that this defeat does not hurt their chances of winning the title too much, though they will be comforted by the fact that they remain favourites to qualify for the premier European competition next season, according to the Champions League betting.

They trail leaders Ajax by six points with only a few games remaining in the season. However, the poor form of AZ will be a major concern for all parties concerned, as they have not taken a win in their last three matches. They remain one of the Top Betfair Euro Tips for next season, and it would be interesting to see them on the world stage.
