JUVENTUS STILL KEEN TO SIGN AZ ALKMAAR TALENT WIJNDAL

Owen Wijndal is still reportedly one of Juventus’ targets for this summer’s transfer window and talks are ongoing with AZ Alkmaar. The 22-year-old Dutch left back had a great season with his childhood club, scoring one goal and providing 10 assists in 31 Eredivisie appearances. A product of their youth system, Wijndal signed a one-year contract extension with AZ Alkmaar earlier this year, tying him to the club until 2024.

As reported by Calciomercato.com, Wijndal remains Juventus’ first choice to strengthen their left back role this summer. Talks have been ongoing with his entourage for over a year now and the Bianconeri seem to be his preferred destination. Juventus still need to reach an agreement with AZ Alkmaar, however. The Dutch side want around €15m for the 22-year-old, but the Old Lady don’t want to pay more than €10m, including add-ons. Talks are still ongoing, although the Bianconeri will also have to free up a little space in their squad first.

In another news, Tottenham are in discussions for another AZ Alkmaar player. Although Tottenham Hotspur added Ivan Perišić to help improve their left wing-back situation, it seems as though the north London club isn’t done making improvements to a position that was a weak spot for them last season. Despite the addition of the Croatian and having players like Ryan Sessegnon to play behind him, Spurs are still looking at players who can play left wing-back, and the latest name surfacing is AZ Alkmaar’s Owen Wijndal.

Foot Mercato reports Tottenham is discussing with the Dutch club to secure the services of the 22-year-old left-back. However, the Premier League club isn’t the only team eyeing the defender, as Olympique Lyonnais, Napoli, and Juventus are also tracking Wijndal. When it comes to a possible transfer fee, Transfermarkt puts Wijndal’s value at £11-million and is under contract with AZ Alkmaar until 2024, so there’s no need to sell this summer but the defender is coming off a successful season.
