The report from Tuttomercatoweb said that Lazio sporting director Igli Tare is weighing up a move for the AZ Alkmaar trequartista. The 23-year-old midfielder impressed in the Dutch Eredivisie last season and it’s not surprising that his name has been on the list of transfer targets at some European teams this summer.

Lazio are not the only team interested in AZ Alkmaar star De Wit as there are other clubs keen on his transfer this summer in Italy apart from Lazio. Teams in France and Germany are also interested in the player.

De Wit played for more than 20 hours in the Dutch Eredivisie last season. To be precise, the player featured for 1209 minutes over 20 appearances in the Dutch top flight in the last campaign. He is particularly noted for his strong passing and pressing. The AZ Alkmaar player scored four goals and laid on three assists for others to score during his time last season. De Wit is the skipper of the Netherlands u-21 team and he has a very good record with 11 goals in 12 games.

Lazio director Igli Tare has the responsibility of signing players for the club ahead of the new season. The Italian capital club has a new manager now in Maurizio Sarri. Ex-Napoli and Empoli manager Sarri was named the new man to take charge of the first team as a replacement for Simone Inzaghi who has left the team to sign for Serie A rivals Inter Milan.
