AZ Alkmaar Boss Van Den Brom Dismisses Speculation about Maccabi Tel Aviv Move

AZ Alkmaar managerJohn van den Brom says that there is no truth in the speculation linking him with a move to the Israeli outfit Maccabi Tel Aviv.

The club are without a manager and have reportedly identified van den Brom as the best possible option to lead them ahead. Vanden Brom has largely been in charge of Dutch clubs in his managerial career, which started in 2010. He has been in charge of clubs like Vitesse Arnhem and ADO Den Haag before coming to AZ Alkmaar. However, his last job was outside Holland while being in charge of Anderlecht for a period of two years.

One of the major attractions for joining a club like Maccabi Tel Aviv is the possibility of managing in the Champions League. The club narrowly missed out on the Premier European competition for this current campaign after finishing second behindHapoelBe’erSheva in the Championship round.

As a result, they dropped into the Europa League, but they will always remain as one of the favourites to finish top even after the Championship round. At AZ Alkmaar, Van den Brom may have to contend with only the Europa League considering that big guns like Ajax, PSV Eindhoven, and Feyenoord will be the favourite for the Champions League places.

Yet,Van den Brom has dismissed the speculation.”Tonight was definitely not my last match as AZ manager. We play Heerenveen on Wednesday. I do not understand the commotion surrounding the rumors and I know nothing. I am convinced that I will not be the new manager of Maccabi Tel Aviv but the media are. So there is a problem. I am staying at AZ and I am surprised at the reports in the media.I am not open to leaving AZ. I am happy here and we are not finished,” said the manager.
